Funkin' Out Fianna

Project Trivia

By: Robyn Barnette

  • It took five weeks to do the project "Funkin' Out Fianna."
  • Over 2 lbs. of M&M's was used in the Fianna-Jade M&M's shot. The candy was later given away as Halloween treats.
  • The Fianna-Jade M&M's shot was inspired by the movie "Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory."
  • Other movies that were the inspiration behind "Funkin' Out Fianna" included "The Wizard Of Oz" and "The Matrix."
  • The second photo of Fianna both in the photo album and the video slideshow was shot in two takes.
  • The shot of Fianna in the meadows was shot in one take.
  • The close-up shot of Fianna was done outside my house.
  • Four Glade Fragrance candles were used in the Fianna "ring of fire" shot. This shot was inspired by Fianna's nickname "Fragrance," and I suffered a headache doing this shot, due to the strong scents coming from the candles.
  • That really is not fire in the Fianna "ring of fire" shot — it is a reflection of light bulbs coming from a chandelier.
  • I insisted on such absolute perfectionism and aimed for something much higher for "Funkin' Out Fianna" that by the end of the first week, only two out of thirteen photos were shot.
  • All the photos were shot on either cloudy days or either during sunrise or sunset. This is because the sunlight created unwanted shadows on the dolls' faces. The only photo shot during a sunny day was the photo of Fianna in the meadows, with the sun and wheat stalks behind Fianna.
  • The project was originally supposed to have thirteen photos, but due to issues with pacing regarding the track used for the video slideshow (i.e., "Senorita" by Justin Timberlake), three photos were added to bring the total number of photos to sixteen.
  • My Funk Out! Cloe doll was intended to appear in one of the photos, but problems with combing her hair and posing Cloe in the correct manner resulted in Cloe being omitted from the project.
  • Four photos were shot on the final day of the project.
  • Many of the white flowers and shrubbery in "Funkin' Out Fianna" were removed on the same day that I completed this project.
  • I received such great feedback from the photo album and video slideshow in "Funkin' Out Fianna" that I am already planning on doing a sequel to this project, titled "Fianna's Funkin' Out Again."
