Project Trivia
By: Robyn Barnette
- "Kool Kat Jade" took four weeks to complete. This was the same length of time it took to capture the first photo from the previous Bratz Photography Project, "Too Funky For Kumi."
- First Bratz Photography Project shot entirely on the Kodak EasyShare V550 Digital Camera.
- The majority of the photography for "Kool Kat Jade" was shot inside my house; only two photos were shot outdoors.
- The musical track used in the video slideshow is titled "Pussycat Meow" by Deee-Lite and was selected as a reference to Jade's nickname "Kool Kat." The track can be found on "Infinity Within," an album that contains the track "Run Away," which was originally to be used in "Too Funky For Kumi."
- The video slideshow features animated renderings of Jade's Kool Kat logo; however, I did not think that these animated renderings were artistic enough, so larger versions of these animated renderings from this project are not available for viewing.
- "Kool Kat Jade" was first conceived in 2004, during the first Bratz Photography Project "The Bratz Have Arrived." Furthermore, Bratz Funk Out! Jade was originally the doll that was going to be used in the project had the project happened that year. However, because of the project "Funkin' Out Fianna," "Kool Kat Jade" was shelved for over a year, since the Fianna-Jade M&M's photo in that project served as a preview of "Kool Kat Jade."
- The Fianna-Jade M&M's photo in "Kool Kat Jade" is actually the reverse of the Fianna-Jade M&M's photo from "Funkin' Out Fianna,": Fianna is upside-down and Jade is right-side-up (the original photo from the project featured Fianna right-side-up and Jade upside-down); furthermore, in the video slideshow, the photo eases in toward you instead of easing out. And, the version of Fianna featured in the photo (i.e., Bratz Midnight Dance Fianna) determined that Bratz Treasures Jade would be the doll used for the project.
- The silver earrings and striped leggings on Bratz Treasures Jade in this project are not included in the actual product.
- All the photos in "Kool Kat Jade" were shot in regular color; they were later edited using a soft focus filter effect and Jade's color palette. This was because the Fianna-Jade M&M's photo from "Funkin' Out Fianna" was shot and edited in a similar fashion.
- I considered shooting a photo featuring all five characters from the Bratz Treasures collection (i.e., Yasmin, Cloe, Sasha, Jade, Roxxi). Unfortunately, I considered this a bad idea and rejected such a photo, since the project was focused primarily on Bratz Treasures Jade and not on the Bratz Treasures collection. There is, however, a photo featuring Yasmin, Cloe, Sasha, and Jade, the original four members of the Bratz Pack.
- Only two types of candies are used throughout "Kool Kat Jade": M&M's and Skittles. They were chosen because of the colors of the candies.
- I did not eat any of the M&Ms or Skittles candies throughout the duration of "Kool Kat Jade." At the end of the project, all the candy was given away as Halloween treats.
- When I finally got around to doing this project, I wanted the project to be devoted to Bratz Step Out! Jade. However, MGA Entertainment did not release Bratz Step Out! Jade in time for the project. In fact, the company released the doll two weeks after the project was completed.
- Because I felt that I put no effort in doing "Kool Kat Jade," I considered this project a disappointment and I do not look back on this project to this day.
